Fine Cooking Magazine App Reviews

Robbing you if your are a print subscriber

This is a lousy app if you are a print subscriber. Theoretically you should be able to pair the app with your print subscription info and get FREE access to the issues that fall within your subscription period. But in practice it never works and the app asks you to pay (again!) even for issues you have already received in print. Deceitful! It is the last time I renew my subscription to Fine Cooking.

The Best Cooking Magazine, Excellent App

I am such a fan of Fine Cooking magazine. My favorite type of recipes in FC are those where they give you the basic recipe and then provide a variety of options so that you get many tastes from one basic recipe. That is the way to cook! I love leafing through the hard copy magazine, but when it comes to cooking I take my iPad to the kitchen open the app and follow my FC guide to tasty dishes.

Very disappointing

I paid for a years subscription twice because I thought it may have been cancelled by accident. Well I cant access anything. Not at all worth what I paid even the first time. I hope I can reach customer service to get a refund. Not at all satisfied

Well done on this digital version!

I am a long time a print format subscriber but I also love Fine Cooking Digital. Unlike many other magazines, this one works in both portrait and landscape. You can zoom in to the pictures and back out to see the entire page. It also gives you a visual hint of items you can click on and dive in. Thank you for not taking shortcuts, youve made this digital version really usable and therefore enjoyable. If I could ask for something- it would be other media type clips to help the experience - animation, video to illustrate techniques for example.

Needs updates

App works fine, but there are issues downloading issues occasionally that resolve themselves in a few days. Magazines themselves look good. When opening the app, I get a message that the developer needs to update the app as it may slow down my iPad. It most certainly does and looks to be last updated in 2014. When I attempted to contact the support team through the app to complain, sending them an email fails with an error message.

This app stinks

As a print subscriber, the digital format does sync my subscription.

Crashes

Keeps crashing, please fix.

insulting

how insulting it it to offer an app for download that simply doesnt work? they get you to pay for a subscription but then dont let you download the magazine. This is a total rip-off.!! get it together Taunton and Apple if your Newstand cant handle the traffic up grade your servers.

Works fine for me.

I have a print subscription. I still prefer that when I am cooking but this app is great for searching and deciding on a menu. It loaded quickly and I was able to get back issues to the beginning of my print subscription. I have an iPad 4. None of the crashes reported it the other reviews so far and no trouble getting the free issues I am entitled to. I have a large cookbook collection but Fine Cooking is my go-to for how-to.

Is this a joke...

Dont waste your time this app doesnt work

Great magazine...Unreliable app

Definitely not a reason to not get a subscription...but the app crashes more than I would prefer. I expect to be able to access all my magazines on my ipad at any time but I cant always with this app.

Disappionted

Dont waste your time. All you got is catalog.

App keeps on crashing on iPad air

This app is very unstable. It was ok on my iPad 3, but I cant even load it on my iPad air. Please fix it.

Fine cooking app

I get the print edition as well but I am out of the country for 6 months so I rely on the app. I just love it. I have the first generation iPad and it rarely crashes on me.

Latest version is glitchy

There are a few problems with the latest version. The archive button is not displaying as it says in the help section that it should. It just shows the "open issue" button where the "archive" button used to be. Also, many issues on the menu just show "downloading" where the cover image should be, but never actually load. Ironically, I tried to send this using the contact form in the app, but that too resulted in an error message.

Confusing if you are a subscriber

Confusing app if you have a subscription. It looks like you are paying again when you want to download an issue. Also cant archive.

Poor use of tablet platform.

This magazine app is done very poorly and does not take advantage of the tablet platform. They should take a lesson from Bon Appetit or the Donna Hay magazine to see how to do a magazine tablet well.

Imaginative and Practical

I became addicted to the magazine because the recipes were fresh and had a flair that help me grow and have fun. Stories are entertaining. The tablet version is a nice partner in the heat of the kitchen. Thanks!

Anyone else having problems with this app

Anyone having problems with the app, I have Fine Cooking, Fine Homebuilding and Fine Woodworking and all apps seam to have the same problem quite often of closing when scrolling trough the magazines. Live their magazines, but when they close up for no apparent reason you need to reopen them and re scroll to find your location. Very annoying. App performance 1 star, magazine recipes and articles I would say 4.5 to 5 star. Please look at fixing this app.

Fine Cooking

The best recipe and instruction resource EVER! Love it.
